Working on a drawing, I try to feel the space of the inner and outer world and understand myself in it. Scientific knowledge does not create a complete picture of man. Man is a combination of values and irrational meanings in a bodily shell that creates identity. The holistic view of man dissolves in anxiety, information overload and conflicts related to diversity. This brought me to the topic of transforming dreams into memories. The dream no longer exists from the moment of incarnation, but becomes a memory, a memory. That’s why they never meet. The aim of this project is to observe the moment of simultaneous existence of dream and memory.
The exhibition presents 4 painted, large-format charcoal drawings on canvas, as well as a video of the creation process. The works were completed within four months as part of the Cultural Scholarship of the City of Gdańsk.
I started working on the discussed series of drawings in 2016 and realized them in various cities and countries as part of residencies, as well as at symposia and festivals (Ukraine, Poland, Germany, Spain, Turkey).
