“Christmas 1” is a dark and evocative graphic artwork by Serhiy Savchenko, created in 2018 using his original flat printing technique (autooffset) on paper. The composition depicts a curled-up naked body placed on a table surrounded by festive objects – dishes, cutlery, glasses, desserts – and a symbolic window with ribs resembling a nativity scene.

The work creates a powerful tension between the sacred and the profane, body and ritual, presence and violence. Dominant tones of red and black, dramatic lighting, and a surreal perspective immerse the viewer in a sense of unease and existential contemplation. It is a haunting story of solitude, sacrifice, and tenderness – also within the holiday context.
