Description

“Long Conversation” is a painting by Serhiy Savchenko, created with oil and acrylic on canvas (150×100 cm, 2024). It is a semi-abstract work, somewhat uncharacteristic in the artist’s visual language, yet continuing one of his central themes — existence, solitude within it, and the inner worlds connected with the continuity and fluidity of being.

Several active forms emerge in the painting, forming a chain of interactions, like fragments of a scene from another reality. On the left, resting on a dark table, lies an archaic shape — a head or skull, resembling the remains of an unknown, almost extraterrestrial creature. On the right, in contrast to it, appears a red figure — pulsating, fluid, as if spreading across the surface while simultaneously taking on corporeal traits. Within its plastic mass, one may discern a suggestion of a seated figure, or even the image of a pregnant woman.

These two forms touch at a single point, creating a tense contact, while around them unfolds a delicate, luminous background. It acts as a counterpoint — softening the drama of the scene, yet not dissolving its tension. The combination of raw textures and subtle space generates a surreal atmosphere — a dialogue between life and silence, between body and emptiness.

Thus, “Long Conversation” appears as the image of a dialogue taking place beyond words: a meeting of two beings, two worlds, touching each other in a fragile moment of balance.
