SOLVING MAZES is a band that plays music on the borderline of jazz, progressive rock, and electronics. Guitar motifs accompanied by electronic instruments and a drum set. Fascinations with Icelandic minimalism, Scandinavian jazz, and early fusion. Expansive landscapes and irregular rhythms as a context for collective improvisation. Melodic themes and harmonies that do not shy away from tensions. Searching for a path through a musical labyrinth.
The concert consists exclusively of original compositions and improvisations. The material is complex and technically demanding, posing a challenge for the instrumentalists. The musical themes presented during the performance refer to various eras and styles, showcasing the band’s wide dynamic range and the performers’ refined craftsmanship. After several concerts in a larger lineup (quartet/quintet), the founders return to their roots, tackling the duo format, revisiting older compositions, and trying their hand at new material.
