“Return Home. Irreversible Perspective” is an artwork by Serhiy Savchenko, continuing his series “Return Home”, developed alongside the cycle “Irreversible Perspective.” The composition depicts a chair with a military uniform draped over its backrest. The chair is placed within a slightly mystical interior featuring cracked walls and a long corridor that visually narrows and seems to recede into the distance. At the far end, a door emits a cool, blue light.

Executed in the artist’s distinctive soft surrealist manner, the work suggests the moment of a soldier’s return home — a quiet instant after removing the uniform following a difficult experience. The absence of a human figure intensifies the dramatic tension and suspends the question of presence, leaving it unresolved within the stillness of the scene.

The “irreversible perspective” referenced in the title points to the existential dimension of the work — a world in which the path forward unfolds in only one direction, and cannot be retraced.
