Wojciech Kolacz – Otecki

Born 1984, lives and works in Wroclaw.
Wojciech Kolacz- Otecki works with artistic graphics, painting, and illustration. He works in public space, he made numerous murals – including in Lyon, Dresden, Helsinki, Breda, Buffalo, Wrocław, Besancon, Lille, Gdańsk, Warsaw, and Gdynia. He participated in festivals related to StreetArt, including the Creature Festival, Lodi, Italy, FortyForty Warsaw, OutOfSth Wrocław. He marked on the map of Polish creators of modern muralism.
In his works, elements of imaginary folklore, are sometimes an expression of the search for supernatural human skills and discovering the timeless truths that are interpreted using English. He draws on folklore, in figurative performances he often gravitates towards abstraction. The main artist describing as personal folklore, where graffiti is combined with elements of the so-called unprofessional art.
A graduate of the Wrocław Academy of Fine Arts, diploma in the studio of Eugeniusz – Get Stankiewicz. Currently an assistant in the Digital Printing and Experimental Techniques Studio prof. Aleksandra Janik.

He worked as a culture animator, cooperating with foundations, NGOs and cultural institutions organizing artistic projects activating local communities. He collaborated with with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, the Bureau of Art Exhibitions in Wroclaw – the Gallery of Design and Avant-garde, the Bureau of Art Exhibitions in Jelenia Góra, the Society of Edyta Stein, Center for Culture and Sport in Oleśnica, the association White Day Development, Information and Social Development Center in Wrocław, House of Culture V9 in Warsaw, Ethnographic Workshop, Crooked Chimney in Wrocław, Cinema Theater in Michałowice and Agora Culture Center in Wrocław. Honored in the Jazz Nad Odrą poster competition, he took part in the 6th Student Graphic Biennale in Poznań. Nominated for the award of the National Film Institute for the best film poster for 2013, In 2011 he was invited to a review of contemporary graphics in Great Britain, Pick Me Up at London’s Somerset House. He implemented the project Residents under the scholarship of the Mayor of Gdańsk 2012, in 2015 He curated the first edition of the MixMediaLab artistic residencies program in the category of urban art in Świdnica His works were presented, among others in the album Street Sketchbook: Journeys published by Thames & Hudson, the work was presented in albums about Polish street art, he took part in the publication of Sebastian Frąckiewicz, To be nice.
