Oleh’s work is a deep, often impenetrable constructivism — a way of reading and understanding the world and the phenomena that occur within it. It is an entirely natural experience, embodied in multidimensional objects that seem to be permeated by a dense network of the artist’s thoughts.
When Oleh reaches for solid forms, abandoning openwork structures, he creates cohesive and monumental phenomena. He gives them fluid shapes, in which he leaves only his own, remarkably balanced cuts — traces of the artist’s presence. He does this to convey something essential, revealed only to him. In doing so, he allows us to perceive the world exactly as he himself experienced it through his hands and the material.
Oleh Putrashyk — a sculptor working in metal, co-founder of the creative workshop “SZPOR” (ШПОР), which for many years operated actively in Perechyn. Since the end of 2024, he has been serving in the 1st Battalion of the 101st Independent Territorial Defense Brigade. Due to the lack of conditions for sculptural work in field settings, he is currently focused on creating graphic works.
“In the army, without the conditions to sculpt, I began creating graphics. This opened an entirely new chapter in my life and artistic practice. Art allows me to endure and maintain inner balance in this difficult time. Whenever I can immerse myself in the creative process, I regain the energy necessary to keep going.”
