Gocha Gulelauri
Gocha Gulelauri was born in 1966 in Tbilisi, Georgia.
1979 – 1981: Participated in the artist circle at the “Youth Palace” in Tbilisi.
1983 – 1986: Worked as a shepherd.
1987 – 1989: Studied at the I. Nikoladze Art School in Tbilisi.
1987 – 1992: Curator at the “Artists’ House” in Tbilisi.
1989 – 1995: Studied at the State Academy of Arts, Tbilisi, Faculty of Painting.
1992: Co-founder of the Georgian-German Society.
Since 1994: Director of the annual “Gwinobissa Cultural Days” in Tbilisi.
Since 1994 to present: Set designer and producer at the Keller Theater in Tbilisi. His projects include “Faust” (1994), “Mario and the Magician” (1996), “The Threepenny Opera” (1997), “Faust I” as a puppet show (1998), “Seduction” (after Thomas Mann, 1999), “Little Muck” (2000), “The Metamorphosis” (2001), “Café Rossini” (2003), “The Cold Child” (2004), “norway.today” (after Igor Bauersima, 2007).
Since 1997: Vice-President of the Georgian-German Society.
2003: Project “Georgian-German Relations from the Perspective of Georgian Students”.
2004: “Medea” workshop in Colchis, Tbilisi.
2005: Project “Ecotopia in the Caucasus” (an international project involving artists from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Germany, and Georgia).
2006: Project “Meeting with Pirosmani” (international artists’ gathering in Georgia with an exhibition).
2006: Organized scenic readings during the “Contemporary Playwrights’ Days”.
Since 2007: President of the Georgian-German Society in Tbilisi.
Since 1988: Numerous exhibitions of his works both in Georgia and abroad (including in Berlin with the sculptor Hans Scheib).
