We cordially invite you to a meeting with nature at the concert of the TANŌK band

The concert is part of a series of musical and poetic meetings within the project “Hearing the Image = Seeing the Sound #3,” which is supported and funded by the City of Gdańsk as part of the cultural activities competition for the year 2022.
TANŌK is a duo consisting of two girls from Poland and Ukraine, who shape a cohesive musical narrative from two different traditions – Slavic ritual and free jazz. “Tanōk” in Ukrainian means a group dance that was supposed to take place in spring to summon the rejuvenating power of nature and success for the new year.
The band’s performances resemble a kind of celebration of nature, characterized by dance steps, laughter, and light, together creating an unforgettable play.
“Song of the Forest” – The band’s first program, an improvised suite based on the drama by Łesia Ukrainka with the same title. It tells a love story between a human and a mythological creature and presents a collective image of the Ukrainian Volhynia mythology.

In music, she values the authenticity of dialogue, being present, and creating a space where the boundary between reason and madness blurs, and reality becomes abstraction. Her voice, beyond the broad concept of singing, is treated as another instrument, using various means of expression.
