In my works, I create my own world filled with fantastic characters whose shapes are simplified, almost childlike. I am interested in juxtaposing this simple form with the seriousness of the situations in which my protagonists find themselves. I often depict them in battle scenes, where they confront one another or remain frozen in rigid, geometric arrangements. This repetition and rhythm of figures create a sense of tension in which a childlike aesthetic becomes a tool for telling stories about complex relationships and inner conflicts.
All of these activities are united by a fascination with diverse sources of inspiration. I draw from the Japanese landscapes of Hiroshige Andō and the mythology of yōkai, combining them with the pop-art repetition of Keith Haring and the raw expression of Jean-Michel Basquiat. This combination allows me to create spaces that, despite their decorative qualities, retain a disturbing and deeply personal character. My compositions are dense landscapes that often extend beyond the boundaries of a single canvas.
Alongside traditional lithography, I seek spatial solutions by creating sculptural paintings in the form of three-dimensional reliefs. These objects give my characters physical weight and allow me to freely merge the world of illustration with sculptural form. Through the layering of elements, I bring my works out from the wall, inviting the viewer into a unique play with an image that enters our own space.

Weronika Puchała, born in 2002 in Częstochowa, is a graduate of the Zbigniew Herbert Community High School No. 1 (STO). In 2021, she began her studies at the Faculty of Graphic Arts of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, where in 2024 she completed her bachelor’s degree in the lithography studio of Dr. Łukasz Butowski. She is currently continuing her master’s studies at the same faculty.
In her artistic practice, she combines traditional printmaking techniques with object-based experimentation, creating works situated between painting and sculpture. Her work focuses on building original fantasy worlds inhabited by beings with simplified, almost toy-like forms. Inspired by childlike aesthetics and Japanese mythology, she addresses darker themes, fears, and tensions through a vivid, comic-inspired visual language.
Through the rhythmic accumulation of figures and by moving beyond the flat graphic matrix, the artist gives her visions a tangible physical presence, inviting viewers to explore a space where decorative beauty collides with unease.
